Meet the cider makers for a guided walk through the orchard of 540 trees to discover 7 different varieties of cider apples and learn about cider production from orchard to glass. \nSee the production equipment in the cider house and learn about the different stages of cider making.\nAfter the tour you will be invited to take a seat for a flight of cider tastings to discover a range of different cider styles all accompanied by local food pairings. \nDepending on the season you may see Spring blossom\, Summer apples ripening or the Autumn apple harvest. \nVarious dates are available\, please note that the orchard walk has a little rough terrain so appropriate footwear is recommended. \nChildren accompanied by adults are welcome for the orchard walk but will not be able to participate in the cider tasting (over 18’s only). \nPlease arrive up to 15 mins before start time. Tour and tasting usually lasts 1.5 hrs and there will be time afterwards to purchase cider and merchandise and enjoy the cider bar and orchard at your own leisure.

DESCRIPTION:Dowding’s will be celebrating the visible beginning of a new season with the arrival of blossom in our organic orchards. The farm has been certified organic for over 35 years. We are in SE Somerset between Bruton\, Wincanton and Castle Cary. \nThere will be plenty of road signs to guide you to get to us and parking will be on site. For those with limited mobility this can be arranged so that it is close to the front. \nEntry free / Donation of £1/head to the Pitcombe Rock Falconry. \nThis will be a day for all the family to enjoy strolling amongst 1\,500 apple trees of all ages from 1 to 32 years old. Most are dessert or culinary varieties but the older ones are mostly cider varieties. Visitors will be welcome to wander amongst the blossoming trees\, and the neighbouring wood filled with bluebells. Dogs are welcome but we do ask that they are on a leash whilst you are with us. \nThere will be a display of birds of prey\, large and small\, weather permitting\, from the nearby Pitcombe Rock Falconry where they rescue injured birds of prey and those discarded\, nurturing them back to full health. They are a charity\, and the only cost to your entrance will be a donation to them in lieu of an entrance fee. \nThere will be an opportunity to enjoy eating good food from a local business from c. 11.30 to 5\, with something simpler later in the day. Rich in tales from cider’s colourful history\, the tour is also peppered with local stories and folklore. \nAfter admiring the breath-taking view of the Black Mountains at the top of the orchard and exploring the fermentation rooms you will also get to enjoy a glass of three different ciders\, whilst sat in our permaculture garden during which we will personally talk you through how we created them. \nWhether you’re already a cider connoisseur or have yet to try your first drop\, we cater for all and hope you will go away armed with new knowledge about this wonderful beverage and the land and people that produce it!

SUMMARY:Yew Tree Cider Club - with Toye's Cider
DESCRIPTION:Cider Club is a monthly talk and tasting with a guest producer at the Yew Tree\, Peterstow near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. \nGuests arrive and sample through six different ciders whilst hearing the story behind their production and their maker\, and then after the tasting enjoy finishing up the drinks with a ploughman’s buffet with freshly made focaccia. \nJoin us on Saturday 25th April at 7pm to hear from the uber passionate and unique Jack Toye! \nA nascent cidery that was producing on a nano-scale since 2020\, Toye’s Cider is owned and operated by Jack Toye\, a lead writer at Cider-Review.com\, regular orchard helper at Broome Farm\, and now a small scale commercial producer in his own right! Producing a range of bottle conditioned and bag-in-box\, naturally made single variety and orchard blend ciders and perries. \nCider Club is a monthly event consisting of a talk & taste of a range of different ciders/perries led by the maker themselves\, and usually takes around 1.5-2 hours. Everyone is welcome\, whether it’s your first taste of cider or you’re a producer yourself. \nJoin our lovely community of welcoming enthusiasts at one of the most intimate cider events in the UK. Event begins 7pm in the Event Room at the Yew Tree Inn\, Peterstow\, HR9 6JZ. After the talk there is a small\, basic cheese and bread buffet provided. \nTickets can be refunded up to 24 hours prior to the event.
